christine on her own
I'm Christine -- a museum gal from Los Angeles now in San Francisco. In addition to discovering a new city, usually with my co-adventurer P, I love filling my mind with art, food, fashion, design, books, and places I've never traveled to.

Currently obsessed with French bulldogs, fancy chocolate, perfect summer sandals, and a winter tropical destination. (And I'm always obsessed with Pinterest)

Hey San Francisco! Christian Marclay’s The Clock is making its SF debut RIGHT NOW at SFMOMA, and time’s a-tickin’ as we approach June 2, the last day our building will be open before expansion construction starts. Come catch a 24 hour screening of The Clock this weekend, and help us count down the days before we launch into our On the Go programming!
(Pssst– can you spot the Mark di Suvero at Crissy Field installation progress in this GIF? It’s the 1st exhibition in our off-site programming, opening May 22!)

SF provides the best backdrops.

As an artist, Caitlin Freeman found her calling in cake.
She bakes at the cafe in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, where the most popular item is a dessert inspired by the art of Piet Mondrian. It features geometric blocks of white velvet cake, colored red, blue and yellow, stacked together and “glued” with chocolate. It takes two days to prepare, according to her new cookbook, Modern Art Desserts.

Lebbeus Woods, Architect is currently on view at SFMOMA, and throughout the run of the exhibition, we’ll be using Tumblr as a place to sequentially share Woods’s wonderful sketchbooks, since only a fraction of the pages can be on view in the galleries. Featured here is the 13th page from a sketchbook he worked on in NYC from 1995-1998.

My favorite page from the #LebbeusWoods’s sketchbook in @SFMOMA’s collection. It pulls you in and keeps you looking.
It’s kind of perfect: the new Rothko toast by the Blue Bottle team (at SFMOMA Rooftop Sculpture Garden)

A love letter for Glenn Ligon’s Rückenfigur (2009)
Which work of art “so gets you?” Send us a love letter to a work of art and finally let the whole world know about your feelings!

I’m not one for Valentine’s Day, but for art, I’ll make an exception

We passed 100,000 followers over the weekend!
Big thanks to you, our fantastic art-loving community – it really means a lot that you’re all here. We also want to give exuberant virtual high fives to all of you who have contributed to our #SubmissionFriday series, which has been successful and awesome only because of your creative talent and willingness to share. So, bravo to you all, and keep the submissions coming!
In some related news, we just went live with a lil’ Tumblr theme makeover. Check it out and let us know, what do you think?

Our social media gal rocks.
Sometimes there’s nothing as nourishing as time with a favorite artwork.
While I didn’t get to join thousands of fans for the parade, I did have the privilege of celebrating the city’s pride with this incredible artist who also was a major Giants aficionado
